Images from Google come from websites that are indexed by the search engine NOT from people posting images to google images. We always cite the images we use in educational projects. At the very least we cite them with a text box containing the link of the website where the image can be found. Open Source images are those pictures people give up the rights to for others to use for free with no copyright. There are lots of sources for these I will post on our resource page. Symbaloo is a tool for digital bookmarking which allows you to take your favorite websites anywhere and access on any device. The symbaloo app is free for phones and tablets. The online computer version is also free. Manipulating images is what we do when we change a photo or image Photoshop Express Editor is a free online version of the more advanced photoshop software - most editing can be done through this tool Persuade means to convince someone of something Medium of delivery is the type of vehicle used to deliver the ad - print, video, tv, online, radio, etc. Print Ads include: newspapers, flyers, billboards, brochures, car wrapping, magnetic logos, magazines, ethos - an appeal to credibility or character pathos- an appeal to emotion logos- an appeal to logic or reason Target audience is the specific audience an ad is created for - often it is along the lines of demographics Demographic -make up of the population of an area - often age, salary, job, race, gender, ethnicity, common focus (athletes, parents , teachers, religious affiliation) etc. you would not advertise Disney in a senior community and believe you got the most exposure for the money. The components of an ad are usually : words/text, sound, images An endorsement is when someone either credible or celebrity recommends a product - they are usually paid for their endorsement Credible means believable because they are an expert or someone famous Advertisers carefully craft their ads to make every word count and be as effective as possible in convincing you to buy a product and/or service or to convince you of something (vote for a candidate) or compel you to do something (volunteer, donate, etc.) Ads cost money unless they are a Public Service Announcement (PSA) which is an ad in the public interest (for the good of all) for which there is no charge; tv stations, radio stations and newspapers will carry them for free as a good will gesture to the community. They promote programs, activities, services, for the gov't as well as non profit organizations. ie. No smoking, No drugs, preventing fires, protecting the environment, etc. Good Will - doing something positive, helpful for free, pro bono, as a gesture for the community, in the best interest of everyone Deconstruct means to take apart - we have been deconstructing ads to see what parts/components they are made of
